Ecdysis Collection
My Ecdysis Collection was designed for the body experiencing physical and emotional changes based on ecdysis, which is the process of snakes shedding skin as an inspiration. For these pieces, I have designed knitted fabric samples then rendered onto imagined garments. From my swatch developments, I then designed and created two fully knitted pieces on a double bed machine. Through these pieces I developed fabrics for the body creating a sense of organic, detailed, and structural knitwear that revolve around my style philosophy of creating apparel pieces adaptable, nuanced, and individual.

INSPIRATION
Metamorphosis is happening around and within us everyday. My inspiration for this collection of knits comes from imagery of transformation that occurs in nature and connecting it to the human experience of change. Ecdysis is a form of metamorphosis that snakes undergo to shed layers of dead skin which is necessary to exist in new layers of skin. With this process as inspiration, I wanted to visualize how this natural process represents extreme change that manifests into physical proof. My knitted collection is designed for the body experiencing physical and emotional change. Through slipping, racking, and many more techniques my knitted fabrics evoke a sense of delicacy and capture organic movements that convey dry textures, peeling sensations, and ultimately a visual representation of shedding and letting go of old layers that do not hold purpose for the body to exist.
